The Lenovo ThinkPad L490 full review of
this laptop and first of all start with the blue validity and the looks of the
laptop which is I think that is a very important thing about laptops when
you're purchasing one so let me get started so as you know in typical than a
one clean pass fashion it has a matte black finish. You open it with one hand
so which is a great thing and which is also very nice I didn't retail but it is
one more thing which is really cool about learn about things like laptops which
is this thing that you can actually make the laptop and the screen completely
flat so which you cannot do in many other laptops but the Lenovo endeavor
ThinkPad laptops you can do it and as especially in this model you can also do
it so which is a great thing and it also has a matte display so it is the
anti-glare display so it won't reflect light if you are into if you are in some
bright environments but it's a great looking display actually but I'm trying I
will talk about the display later on in this video but overall the build
quality is great it feels very very solid it is matte black sometimes it does
get a little bit nasty it curved it takes your fingerprint oil on top of the
keyboard screen deck actually but it is pretty easy to clean it up but the
laptop overall feels really good and and it also says that this is a premium
laptop and yes indeed it is a premium laughter because it also has a premium
price check to match so now let's talk about the screen and the keyboard so let
me first get started with the keyboard actually because that is also a very important
thing about thing parents but the thing is that I don't think so I have to tell
you about the keyboard because I think so if you are a tech geek you already
know that but ThinkPad laptops always have a great keyboard like it's a real
joy to type on this keyboard it has a nice amount of actuation force to it a good
you know key response and nice amount of springy feel to it and it feels so
nice to type on the just listen to it yeah it feels so nice to type on this
laptop but yeah it's really good it has a nice concave shape to it too it
nicely fits in your fingers and overall the layout the spacing everything is
just bought on and I think so this is like like one of the best laptop
keyboards in the market which we have recently it also blinks sometimes so yeah
it looks great it's a nice attention to detail actually the metal hinges are
actually really really sturdy and really really well and it does not clean
flimsy by any means it's really sturdy and for long session writings I don't
think so you won't have a lot of I don't think you will have any problems while
keeping the screen adjusted in a single position which is great now let's talk
of the screen after after so long of discussion.
The screen is actually a full
HD 1920 1080 p display the color accuracy is not the best but it's pretty good
for a laptop in this category one of the things which I'm really surprised with
the doctor is the screen brightness the screen brightness is really good and
really high so whether you are in some bright situations where there's a lot of
sunlight or a lot of light from any source it is not going to be a problem to
look at the screen because it also has an advantage of being a matte display so
there's not going there's not going to be any kind of reflection so which is a
great thing and I think so in throw into any business profession where you have
to deal with your laptop or where you have to stare at a lot for long time this
is going to be great laptop screen to look at because it is 14 inches it is
1080p so not very high resolution so it will not take a lot of battery life
from the battery of this laptop and it is also matte to display so yes overall
I would say that display on this laptop is great it is it has the perfect balance
between resolution brightness you know color accuracy and the texture it is
really great now there's one more small attention to detail with ThinkPad laptops
especially on this one is that it has this privacy feature which are included
many laptops nowadays is that you can actually shut the microphone off if you
want so for privacy reasons so that if any software in background actually
listens to your audio then you can just shut the microphone by just flipping
the switch on above the webcam on the screen so which is actually a nice thing
for privacy reasons but yeah not very useful too but yeah it's nice to have Sinjin
no so now let's actually talk about the performance of the laptop actually I
would say that the performance of that part is pretty much what I expected from
business laptop obviously this is not meant for professional video editing or
something like that but this is actually a laptop meant for people those who
travel a lot are those who are into business professional fields where they
have to run multiple web applications and use Word Excel and PowerPoint for the
daily work so it's pretty much used for light workloads if you want to know the
specifications of the laptop is actually it has an Intel Core i5 8th gen 80 365
u which is a quad core processor which has a TDP of 15 watts but it also has a
configurable TDP up to 25 watts which is great for power winding applications
but it is also a V pro CPU so which is a great thing and actually I've been
using this laptop for quite a while and I think so the day-to-day performance
is not at all a problem and this thing you can run multiple applications and
you can do molotov skiing which is not a tunnel problem the performance from
the CPU side has been great now it does not have any kind of integral or
dedicated GPU to it, it has an Intel u HD graphics 620 which is an integrated
GPU there's one USB C charging port for charging the laptop there's one
Thunderbolt 3 connector which is a really great there's also an extension of
the turnable 3 port you know that Nano has their proprietary docking systems
which I stood on the port name actually but yeah it is a proprietary port for
my level of access area and then we have a normal USB a port we have an HDMI
2.0 port then we have an SIM port actually so you can actually install a data same
over here if you are not traveling or if you are not actually using your
phone's hotspot it's really convenient you have and in bulk they just same
which is great I think so this feature should be not on every laptops which are
coming out in this you know model over also we have a full-size gigabit internet
sport and we do have a micro SD card over here we also have a business ard slot
actually which are used for you know belonging in and for the business for
those who are into that sector and then we have a Kensington lock in the right
and headphone jack and another USB a so a lot of eyes for a laptop this size it's really great to have such a nice
width of a Leo's now I would definitely not expect to have any SD card not
because this is not meant for content creation at all but it's nice to have a
micro SD at least which is a great thing now overall my review on this laptop
so far has been pretty positive and actually I would say that this laptop has
been so underrated that a lot of people don't actually look after this like
there are a lot of new laptops which are coming out in the business sector
feeling like the HP dragon size 14 inch which was recently done in CES 2020
then we have many other HP laptops I
expected x360 and/or we also have offerings from Dell HP of 13 and all the son
of that stuff but um I would say personally that if you're looking for a really
nice performance robust a reliable 14 inch laptop we started to break your
prank then yeah you should definitely look after for this after of the L love
letter for L 490 it's been such a great daily driver I've been using it for
just normal tasks not that much actually but yeah for day-to-day normal usages
it is an absolutely tank and I think so for years to come it is going to give
you great service and it's just a really worth it investment so if you are looking
forward to buying a normal day-to-day tasks laptop or everyday use of this line
using.
